Recalling excellence

I discovered that I do certain things very well. Some of the things I find I do quite well are crafts. I love to sew. I found that I can make teddy bears and stuffed animals very well. Each one becomes its own little character, with his or her own name. I dress them, give them accessories, and each one has a story. I used to sell my characters as a set of 4 bears and 5 rabbits. The bears were Ivan and Yvonne D'Bear and Krissi and Henry bear were the children. The rabbits were Rex and Madge Rabbit, with the children named Fleur, Ben, and Flora. These were great fun, and made some spending money for me.
I found this past time living in Australia. I was married and trying to get my residency so was not allowed to work in that country. My husband travelled with work and I went with him everywhere. I found that I had a great outlet in many of the towns we went to for these little characters. People loved them.
I felt a great sense of satisfaction doing this and I loved embellishing the stories. The stories grew for quite some time. I have recently rediscovered the joy of making my rabbits. I posted a picture of one on my facebook page and immediately had 2 offers from people to buy them. I feel hugely satisfied and extremely happy when I sew and do other crafts. It's something I know I do well and I enjoy. I make many of them for my son who is 5. He likes the stories I come up with for them too.
The only part of my crafts I am ever not satisfied with is the inability to make money at it. Or at least enough money to call it a job. Oh well, it's a bit on the side and lots of fun. And I am darn good at it.
